Jub Jub Turns ‘Wanted’ Fugitive?
Controversial media personality and Uyajola 9/9 host, Molemo Maarohanye, popularly known as Jub Jub, is facing renewed legal trouble after the Germiston Magistrate’s Court issued a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court on Monday, 24 August 2026.
The 45-year-old is facing charges relating to an alleged confrontation with an e-hailing driver in Edenvale on 14 June 2026.
The charges include discharging a firearm in a public place and pointing an object likely to be seen as a firearm.
According to police, the incident allegedly began after an e-hailing driver dropped off a female passenger, reportedly Maarohanye’s girlfriend, at a residence in Edenvale.
National police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, said Maarohanye allegedly confronted the driver, accusing him of being romantically involved with the woman.
Police further allege that the confrontation escalated when Maarohanye forced the driver into his vehicle and prevented him from leaving.
“During the incident, the suspect reportedly discharged a firearm in the direction of the driver,” Mathe said.
The driver allegedly managed to escape unharmed before driving to a nearby police station, where he opened a criminal case.
Maarohanye was arrested and he subsequently approached the Johannesburg High Court in an urgent application, raising concerns about the delay in his appearance before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court and seeking bail pending his first appearance.
The matter has since returned to the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where Maarohanye failed to appear on Monday.
His legal defence told the court that he had been booked off sick since 20 August 2026.
Despite the non-appearance, the court ordered that the warrant of arrest should not be activated immediately.
According to the information provided, the warrant will remain on hold until 7 September 2026, when the matter is scheduled to return to court.
