Zuma-Sambudla, Ndhlela Fight Back
The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has descended into absolute internal warfare following the sudden and dramatic expulsion of high-profile founding members, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla and Nhlamulo Ndhlela, last week on 18 June 2026.
In urgent High Court papers, Zuma-Sambudla and Ndhlela claim they were unceremoniously discarded through a media briefing without any formal charges, prior notice, or disciplinary hearings.
The duo argues that the leadership bypassed the National Disciplinary Committee to execute a lawless, politically motivated purge.
“The Applicants have been expelled 'by press conference' in flagrant violation of the MK Party Constitution,” the court papers state.
According to the complainants, the legal challenge exposes severe administrative desperation, revealing that Secretary-General (SG), Sibonelo Nomvalo, justified the expulsions by relying on a non-existent clause in the party's own constitution.
Nomvalo had previously accused Ndhlela of gross insubordination for allegedly creating parallel structures - an accusation Ndhlela strongly rejects as a personal vendetta.
“Nomvalo is against the liberation agenda,” Ndhlela previously retorted.
He maintains that his controversial organisational announcements were made with the full knowledge and authority of former president and party leader, Jacob Zuma.
The targeted leaders are now pleading with the court to arrest the spreading tyranny before the upcoming local government elections.
“The Secretary-General has sought to act as complainant, investigator, prosecutor, and judge in his own cause,” the two applicants argued.
The legal showdown places immense pressure on the party’s unstable centre, further highlighting an escalating crisis of accountability and structural manipulation within South Africa’s third-largest political organisation leading to the looming local government elections.
