After the accountability fight bought by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and the African Transformation Movement for findings linked to foreign currency at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s farm many months ago.

The Constitutional Court has reported that judgement on the Phala Phala matter is expected to be delivered within the next month.

“The court's judgment is expected to be delivered within a month, marking a pivotal moment in an ongoing saga that has raised numerous questions about the integrity of public office and the nation's judicial processes.” Said Chief Registrar Simoné-Lanique Tjamela,

Following a protest by the EFF calling on the judgement on a theft case linked to the farm after the matter sat back in 2024.

In that very same year the ConCourt was approached by EFF alongside the African Transformation Movement following a parliamentary inquiry that found prima facie evidence against Ramaphosa over a large amount of foreign currency discovered at his Limpopo farm in 2020.

The party is requesting that the court compel the National Assembly to adopt all findings of the inquiry and charge The President.

“The EFF remains unwavering in its commitment to transparency, accountability and the defence of the rule of law,” Dunga said, calling for the immediate release of the ruling.

The National Prosecution Authority previously said that the Phala Phala matter is currently under review at the head office of the Specialised Commercial Crimes Unit, however the authority previously faced criticism after delaying to prosecute Ramaphosa over the alleged cover-up of the 2020 theft of foreign currency from his Limpopo farm.

In 2024, the NPA in Limpopo said there was no reasonable prospect of a successful prosecution based on the available evidence - despite a parliamentary inquiry finding that Ramaphosa had a case to answer.

The anticipated verdict will solely be delivered by the ConCourt as SA awaits.
