PRETORIA – Crime Intelligence head Dumisani Khumalo has told the Madlanga Commission that not all of his evidence will be made public.

Khumalo says doing so would compromise ongoing investigations by the Gauteng Counter-Intelligence Unit.

He says he plans to apply to present some of the sensitive information in camera. The commission is on the eighth day of hearings.

Khumalo’s testimony follows allegations of power struggles at the top of the police and intelligence services.

He outlined the evidence he intends to present, including the establishment of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT), the infiltration and influence of organised crime in the criminal justice system, the broader reach of organised crime in South Africa, and the events that led to the creation of the Gauteng Counter-Intelligence Unit.

Khumalo claimed the disbandment of the PKTT was the result of a "particular cartel's" influence over the Ministry of Police and the SAPS.
