The bail application for 54-year-old Petrus Thobejane from Thobejane PM Attorneys has been postponed to November 24, 2025, following his arrest at his Centurion home on Wednesday.

Thobejane appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing 31 charges of theft. It is alleged that Thobejane stole from clients who used his conveyancing services between November 2024 and October 2025.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Lumka Mahanjana, said the accused allegedly offered conveyancing services to assist clients in purchasing properties.

“After reaching agreements, the complainants transferred funds to him for the services. However, after receiving the money, Thobejane allegedly failed to provide any service, became unreachable, and did not refund the funds,” Mahanjana said.

Upon realising this, the clients filed complaints with the Legal Practice Council (LPC), which subsequently opened cases against Thobejane at several police stations.

The former Gauteng attorney who was struck off the roll in March 2024 appeared in court yesterday, for theft that amounts to R8.3-million.
