Tyla Triumphs at SAMA32

Global sensation, Tyla, accepted the International Achievement Award at the 32nd South African Music Awards at the Sun City Superbowl. She utilised her moment in the spotlight to showcase immense national pride and deep humility.

Instead of standing alone, Tyla used her acceptance speech to celebrate homegrown talent by inviting local stars like Cassper Nyovest, Makhadzi, Babalwa M, Zee Nxumalo and Maglera to share the stage.

She also expressed gratitude to Pretoria and the Bacardi genre, noting that incorporating Bacardi into her hit track fundamentally transformed her life.

“There was no other Tyla before me, and I don't have a roadmap. I don’t have someone to call and ask how they did things and which steps to take.

“So as I stumble through my career and my life now growing up as a woman and an artist in front of the world, I just thank South Africa for being there for me and for supporting me and just for, you know, everything that inspires me,” said the rising international icon.

Tyla continues to harmonise her unprecedented global rise with a grounded appreciation for her origins. This prestigious accolade recognises the young star as a trailblazer who consistently elevates African artistry.

The 32nd South African Music Awards (SAMA32) took place live at the Sun City Superbowl.
