The award-winning DJ’s fans are showing love to help him find his rhythm again

South African DJ and award-winning producer Collen ‘DJ Chymamusique’ Mmotla is receiving great love and support from fans after disclosing his ongoing recovery and taking bold steps to manage his medical expenses after his tragic accident in August.

Chymamusique, underwent an emergency brain surgery, a craniotomy, following a horrific collision in Polokwane on 30 August 2025 that claimed five lives, including that of his friend and fellow musician, DJ Poizen.

The crash left him facing a long road to recovery, with his brain, speech and body still affected as he rests and heals.

Hospital bills keep piling up, especially after such a major surgery. in terms of covering the costs of his expensive medical treatment, Chymamusique launched a ‘Bank A Buddy” initiative and put several high-value belongings up for sale, including a Mercedes-Benz C63, motorbikes and DJ equipment.

The initiative picked up, and the monetary support that was coming from his fans was immense and unexpected, with just three months in the initiative has surpassed a R100 000 and beyond

“They raised 50% now on Back A Buddy to gift me, they’ve passed R100 000. I’m blessed to have such generous friends, family & support,” he said.

The funds have alleviated immense financial pressure, allowing Chymamusique to focus entirely on healing.

Through the generosity of his community, Chymamusique is not only covering his medical costs but also finding strength in the encouragement of those around him.

What started as a tragic accident has turned into a testament to kindness and the power of people coming together to help one get back on their feet.
